Not scary in the same way, but I do love the original saw film. Before the whole series disappeared up its own arse with gornographic ridiculous traps, the simplicity of the first one got under my skin a bit and the ending stayed with me for some time

It's also the inky film I've seen at the cinema where blokes were taking their girlfriends out as they couldn't hack it!

The first Elm Street film before Freddy Krueger became a pastiche was pretty creepy and very gory as well.

From recent years I'd say that the House of the Devil was decent and very, very tense. The bird in it was cute too if that helps.

Sleepy Hollow is really good in terms of the music, scenery and the whole old fashioned haunted small town story.

As a horror film to watch late at night on Halloween I don't think you can go wrong with The Fog.

I thought the US versions of those films were absolutely awful, and I don't mean that in a poncey "everything foreign is better" way.

Yanks just can't seem to do subtlety sometimes.

Like they had to give the girl in Ring an evil looking face to show she's evil, whereas in the Jap version you couldn't even see her face, which done it for me.

Went to see a film called The Babadook yesterday (in Thailand), release date is for Halloween in the UK, genuine shit yourself film, The Babadook itself is pretty bloody terrifying! Could be a bit of a modern classic I reckon.

Haha I'll be honest. I watched the US version of The Grudge and that shit me up so I haven't watched the Jap version. Too scared. So many people have told me it pisses over the US version for scare factor so it's a no for me.
